The 2016 Dodge Charger is a full-size four-door sedan. In SXT and R/T trim level models, it packs a lot of punch. Think of these models as high-performance sedans that are big enough to transport lots of people, whether it’s family or friends, at the drop of a dime.
When it comes to getting power and performance in the 2016 Charger SXT or Charger R/T, buyers have two choices: power or more power. The 2016 Charger SXT comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The 2016 Charger R/T has a 5.7-liter V8 engine that delivers 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. Both SXT and R/T models are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on both models, but an optional all-wheel-drive system is available on the SXT model.
The two trim-level models might look similar to the naked eye. However, what sets them apart from each other lies within their available appearance packages. The Charger SXT Rallye Group package is distinguished apart from the others with a rear deck spoiler, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and special badging. The SXT Super Track Pak package sits half an inch lower to the ground. The Charger R/T rides on the same size wheels 20 inches as the SXT model. This model also has a rear deck spoiler. Buyers can pick the Blacktop appearance package, which is available on both the SXT and R/T models. The package stays true to the color in its name and comes with 20-inch high-gloss black wheels, black trim elements through the exterior and interior of the car, a sport steering wheel, and a sport-tuned suspension. Other packages and their included features are Wheels and Tunes Group and the Premium Group with 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with black pockets and satin finish and the Plus Group with 18-inch wheels for the SXT model and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with graphite pockets on the R/T model. The Wheels and Tune package is only available as an option on the R/T model. The Plus Group and the Premium Group packages are available as an option for the SXT and R/T models.
Both the SXT and R/T models come with the following safety features: antilock disc brakes in the front and rear, stability control, traction control, active front head restraints, and airbags for the front-seat sides, driver’s knees, and side curtains. The 2016 Charger scored good ratings in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof-strength crash tests. The institute also rated the seat and head restraint designs in the 2016 Charger as good.
